Yom Ha'atzmaut Flash Dance

I want you all to know about a great opportunity to become part of a first in Southern Oregon--a relatively new phenomenon called a "flash dance."

People of all ages, seemingly unconnected, gather in a public place (in this case, Lithia Park in Ashland), recorded music begins, and little by little all the people join in a (rehearsed) dance together. It's charming and magical.

A Message from the President

I apologize that it's taken me so long to post something different in this spot.  Sometimes life has a way of taking unexpected bounces that push you off the trail you were getting comfortable with.  That has happened to me recently, and I'm adjusting to a new normal.

I have to ask for your continued forgiveness as my family and I adjust to a different lifestlye again.  As you may know, at the start of the year I took a new position with Lithia Motors.  This new position is one that requires all of my attention and focus.  It gets me up at the crack of dawn, and keeps me going to late at night.  I'm enjoying it, and the opportunities it presents are tremendous, but it doesn't leave a lot of time for much else right now as we are adjusting.

Nicole, Jacob, and myself appreciate your patience as we get used to this new position, and I say thank you to fellow board members (especially the executive board!), and the staff at TES for covering for me.

Robert

Welcome to Temple Emek Shalom

Temple Emek Shalom has been a Rogue Valley institution for nearly forty years. Our congregation is always growing and attracts young families from northern California and across southern Oregon.

Our name, Emek Shalom, translates to Valley of Peace, and that's what our Reform Movement members strive to create for our community. A loving, caring, warm place that's inviting to all.

Our spiritual and lay leaders lead classes in all phases of life's cycles. From our pre-school, to our section in the Jacksonville cemetery, we are able to fulfill the mitzvah of leading and teaching our children Jewish culture and values throughout the circle of life. We have classes available to teach Hebrew to the young and old alike. We have choirs for both children and adults, and of course we have wonderful sessions of Torah study.

We are an active and engaged community that participates with other denominations in humanitarian work, and we of course, also have a social network to look after the needs of our congregants.

Our facilities are modern and clean, with the rebuilding of our new sanctuary having been completed in 2001. The building is used by the entire community to host events, lectures, art showings, and celebrations.

We realize that that this web site is only able to provide some cursory answers to questions you may have. We encourage you to contact us for a tour and an introduction. We look forward to meeting you!
