Curriculum

This year we continue with our Values-Based Curriculum, exploring how Jewish values guide daily life. We’ll also engage with the weekly Parashah, holidays, Hebrew, and more. Each weekly session centers on one or more Jewish values, approached in age-appropriate ways across the whole school.

Our 5 classrooms:

  • PreK / K
  • 1st / 2nd
  • 3rd / 4th
  • 5th / 6th
  • B’Mitzvah (7th)

Hebrew Tutoring (Grades 3–6)

  • Weekly 1:1 Zoom tutoring (20 minutes)
  • 30 sessions starting the week of 10/23
  • Scheduling arranged directly between family and tutor-
  • Tutors: Bari Frimkess (Grades 3–4) and David Sherman (Grades 5–6) (assignments may vary)
  • No tutoring Thanksgiving week, winter break, or spring break

B’Mitzvah (7th Grade)

7th grade is our B’Mitzvah class. Families of 7th graders—or those considering entering the B’Mitzvah year—should speak with their rabbi about preparation and planning.

The TES B’Mitzvah program includes, in addition to WGSS class time:

  • Tutoring: 1:1 with a tutor for prayers and Torah/Haftarah chanting (~9 months prior, usually on Zoom)
  • Rabbi meetings: 1:1 with your rabbi to prepare mitzvah project, D’var Torah, and reflections (beginning 4–5 months prior, usually on Zoom)
  • Class sessions with rabbis: On Sundays throughout the year, sometimes including parents, covering topics like B’Mitzvah meaning, God, prayer, antisemitism, Israel, and more
