Racial Justice

Here is the link to the JPR interview of Emily, Steve, and Dana

Our racial justice work is an expression of our most abiding Jewish values: hesed (loving-kindness), tzedek (justice), tikkun olam (helping mend the planet). In modern Jewish circles, tikkun olam has become synonymous with the notion of social action and the pursuit of social and racial justice.

We are committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusiveness in our congregation and in the world. We are dedicated to advocating for these principles, especially as they affect marginalized groups beyond our own Jewish community.

We explore racial justice issues through study and coming together in a safe space for our members to explore and discuss them, as well as through our actions and partnerships throughout our community.

A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FROM

SOUTHERN OREGON JEWISH COMMUNITY COALITION

Tuesday, 2/13 at 4pm ET/1pm PT

The SOJC Kulanu Work Group has been busy at work these past many months exploring opportunities for engagement within our Southern Oregon region for helping to combat antisemitism and hate in our area.

We are pleased to share that in February, there is a workshop being sponsored by ADL entitled The Current State & Trends of Antisemitism and Hate on Campus and Beyond.  We want to encourage all who are able to attend.

ADL is promoting this as a multi-generational program.  If the timing of the event does not fit within your schedule, please register anyway.  By doing so, you will receive a recording of the session which you can watch at a later date.  Thus if you have children or grandchildren you wish to share this program with – or watch together later – you’ll have that opportunity.

Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 13 at 4pm ET/1pm PT.  Click here to learn more about the event and register.

Please keep an eye on announcements you’ll receive through Chabad, HSH, and TES in the months ahead for ways you too can engage within our community to help support one another and curb the tide of antisemitism and hate we may find here in Southern Oregon.

Thank you for your continued interest and desire to engage and help combat antisemitism.

Community Partner

BASE (Black Alliance for Social Empowerment) — BASE is a nonprofit community organization that provides events, community information-sharing, connection, support and resources that work toward the well-being and advancement of Black residents living in Southern Oregon. We supported BASE in the creation of the Southern Oregon Racial Equity Liaison, and will continue to support them to build an inclusive community to combat structural racism that is prevalent today.
