Join Nathan Shuey and Rabbi Rachel Dorit Goldberg for a contemplative and interactive service honoring Tisha B’Av, the traditional day of fasting and mourning for a number of disasters throughout Jewish history.

There is a lot going on in the world and in our lives as Jews, Americans, and global citizens. We want to provide a space to honor the pain of the destruction of our Holy Temples, other traumas throughout our history, October 7, rising antisemitism, and the personal disappointments and pains we carry, by creating a time for reflection, love, and healing.

Tisha B’Av provides a unique opportunity to ritually grieve before we begin the soul-searching preparation for the High Holy Days. A day of purgation and renewal.

There will be singing, reading from the book of Eicha (Lamentations), discussion, time for reflection and sharing, and a hopeful look toward the High Holy Days.

Light food and drinks will be provided at the conclusion of the service, including dates, watermelon, hard-boiled eggs, Israeli salad, quinoa salad, herbal tea, and water.
Feel free to bring vegetarian sides to share.
